Our Mission
The Kofago Research Initiative the Institute’s dedication to deepening the understanding of African-descended peoples across the globe. Through rigorous scholarship, public engagement, and innovative programming, we strive to illuminate the experiences, movements, and contributions that have shaped and continue to shape the African Diaspora.
What We Do
Support Research: We help fund and facilitate original research projects that explore the histories, cultures, and contemporary realities of African-descended communities worldwide.
Publish Scholarship: Our initiative produces and disseminates publications that offer fresh perspectives on diasporic experiences, contributing to the expansion of historical and cultural narratives.
Engage the Public: We organize lectures, symposiums, and community-centered events to bridge the gap between academic research and public knowledge.
Foster Collaboration: We encourage interdisciplinary partnerships among scholars, artists, activists, and community organizations to promote holistic and multifaceted understandings of the Diaspora.
Why Our Research Matters
At Kofago, we believe that knowledge is power. By investing in research that centers African-descended peoples, we aim to:
