
Bakary Fall is a Dakar, Senegal–born dancer, choreographer, and teaching artist whose work bridges traditional and contemporary West African dance with Capoeira and urban movement practices. Trained under Bessie Award–winning choreographer Germaine Acogny, he is recognized internationally for dynamic artistry that honors cultural lineage while pushing creative innovation. His performance and choreography have been featured in documentaries and music videos, including projects associated with Grammy Award–winning artists.
In June 2025, Fall became Artistic Director of the Kofago Dance Ensemble after serving as a company choreographer for four years. As an educator, he has been a guest choreographer at Queensborough Community College and teaches across New York City, including weekly classes at Alvin Ailey Extension and a weekly Sabar class in Harlem at Kultiv8, with additional teaching experience at Peridance.
Committed to developing platforms for artistic exchange, he founded Dakar’s annual Yoon ak Yeen festival (2014) and the Senegal-based collective Sunu Percu Dance; in 2023, he brought Kofago to Senegal to perform alongside Sunu Percu as part of the festival. Since relocating to the United States in 2018, he has performed at major festivals and venues, including INSITU Dance Festival, Brooklyn Academy of Music with Youssou N’dour, and the International African Arts Festival: West Africa Dance Masters, while continuing to teach widely in studios and schools.
