Standing Strong. Moving Forward. Together.
2025 has been one of the most challenging years in Kofago’s history. Like so many arts and cultural organizations, we have been deeply affected by national funding cuts — including the loss of support from the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA). On top of that, donations have dropped sharply due to the current economic and political climate.
But Kofago’s mission is too important to pause.
We remain committed to uplifting communities through dance, culture, and education — using the arts as a bridge of healing, empowerment, and belonging.
Our Goal: 50 Donors to Raise $50,000
The 50 to 50K Campaign calls on our friends, alumni, partners, and supporters to step forward and help sustain Kofago’s vital work. We’re seeking 50 champions — individuals, families, and organizations — to each commit to raising or donating $1,000 (or more) to keep our programs alive and accessible to those who need them most.
Your support will directly fund:
- Youth Education & Employment: Programs like Kofago Taraji that provide young people with paid summer opportunities and professional mentorship.
- Community Engagement: Free and low-cost performances, classes, and wellness initiatives that build connection and pride across the African Diaspora.
- Artist Support: Commissions, stipends, and workshops that keep our artists creating, teaching, and inspiring.
- Mental Health & Wellness Initiatives: Integrating art with emotional healing and community care.
- International Learning & Exchange: Our joint project with Lehman College’s Study Abroad Office, supporting staff and students traveling to Senegal in 2026. Many of these students come from low-income backgrounds and need financial and logistical assistance to make this transformative educational and cultural journey possible. Your contribution helps ensure that no student is left behind because of financial barriers.
Why Your Gift Matters
Every dollar counts. Every gesture of support helps us sustain the heartbeat of culture in our communities.
Kofago isn’t just a dance organization — we’re a movement for cultural preservation, creative freedom, and community transformation.
Your support helps keep doors open for the next generation of artists, educators, and community builders — both here at home and across the Atlantic.
